little monkey!

Oh my Goodness!

No, this is not an image of me or Leigh as a kid (very 70s quality as the photo is). It's our little monkey, Parker! 4 months and ready for her first Halloween. (Say "hi," Parker!)

Thanksgiving Visit with Casey and Chuck

I'm looking forward to my trip with Jeff over the Thanksgiving holiday to visit with Casey and Chuck in Fairplay, CO.
... maybe there will be an early snow :)

I fell in love with Casey and Chuck's warm hospitality and magnificent place in the woods during my first visit with them there last Christmas. I can't think of too many other places I would rather be over the Christmas season! Besides their house and grounds being absolutely gorgeous (and at an elevation of 10,300 feet -- it's breathtaking!), it is an animal lover’s paradise... I even saw deer from Casey's kitchen window. How beautiful!

You can see the trees outside the window in this shot of Chuck with his Baltimore Colts Christmas presents (and Casey in her Christmas vest)...

Charlie, Kye and Mary will be there this Thanksgiving as well. I met Charlie and Kye over Fourth of July 2006 at Rattlesnake Gulch (that was great fun!) and I'm looking forward to meeting Charlie's girlfriend Stephanie and Casey's daughter Mary. Mary lives in New York, not too far from our sons Scott and Glenn and daughters Megan and Eden . (Maybe someday we can plan to have a family Get Together in New York!)

Being a new member of the Kelley Family (Jeff and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary during this Thanksgiving visit!) -- I'm looking forward to meeting lots and lots of new Kelley family members. (Well, new to me that is)
:)

Be on the lookout (on this space) for family pictures of our Thanksgiving trip... Jeff and I can hardly wait to share them with the rest of the family!

Namaste,
Maria

Jeff adds:
Charlie was bragging to me that he scored a Chevy Trailblazer from his rental company...

...this, of course, was in really poor taste in light of
what Maria and I got stuck with from OUR rental company...

...but we get the last laugh, because WE get the AARP discount!

Maria adds:
Jeff got us the discount. (My age, 29, isn't old enough to qualify for an AARP discount!) :)

My Video Debut!

ThreadBanger is a popular internet DIY show which was recently featured on the Rachael Ray show - and last month they came to my house to film me doing a few segments for them! My first episode came out today and I'm so excited. I'll be on a few more episodes, too. I'll put them up on my website www.KateMcFaulDesigns.com as they come out, so you can find them there in the future. I hope you enjoy! This was a really exciting opportunity for me. Oh, and my part of the episode starts at 2:30 if you want to jump ahead. =)

Thanks for watching!

Casey & Noah & Jack at Danberg, 2007

I love this picture. Kate took it during our 2007 RV trip to the mega family reunion at Rattlesnake Gulch just north of Lee Vining, CA.

They are sitting outside the house at Danberg Beach, on the north shore of Mono Lake.

Pop (Michael's, Casey's, & Jeff's father; Noah's/Jack's great-grandfather) lived for many years in the house that is just outside the frame of this picture.

I lived there with Pop for a year while going to Lee Vining High School. Casey had also lived in the area, off and on, for many years. Her son Kye too, I think.

Michael and Jamie are renting the house now. Nice weekend/summer retreat.

There's a 360-degree panorama of Danberg Beach here:

How-To (and Who/Where)

You each should have received an invite to become an author. Maria and Jeff are excited about us all seeing each others "stuff" and we hope you are too!

Getting Started:
You should have received an invitation with a link. (If you lost it, let Maria or Jeff know and we'll re-invite you!)

Just click the link in the invite. If you already have a google email account that you want to use for this, log in. Otherwise, it's really easy to set up a new account (and you'll get all kinds of other groovy stuff for free, like Google shared Calendars and Spreadsheets)!

Posting your own item:

  1. go to http://blogger.com/
  2. log in with the Google id and pw you used in replying to the invite
  3. Find the KelleyRigbyClan blog in your list and click on New Post

Privacy:
We chose to make this a "public" website (so you wouldn't have to log in just to see the latest post). This means that, in theory, anyone could see what you post, so don't give out other family members' addresses or phone numbers.

Subscribing to new Posts:
Just use the new Subscribe control at the bottom of the blog.

Note: The first time you use it, you'll have to go to your email and click a link and enter your name. THEN, you'll have to wait for Maria or Jeff to "approve" your subscription (since it's based on a new Google Group called kelleyrigbyclan@groups.google.com, which we've made a Private group). My point: if you subscribe you might wanna drop a line to Maria or Jeff to go approve that.

Getting Inspired (2):
Random Chapter: 56:
Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know. Close your mouth, block off your senses, blunt your sharpness, untie your knots, soften your glare, settle your dust. This is the primal identity. Be like the Tao. It can't be approached or withdrawn from, benefited or harmed, honored or brought into disgrace. It gives itself up continually. That is why it endures --
